Where is proactive AI?
AI is at our beck and call. We’re told ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and friends are ready to help with many tasks. Just ask and you will receive!
Additionally the world of tool calling is putting digital world levers at the ready. AI can take action for you, sending an email or managing your calendar. Just ask and you will receive!
That’s neat, and perhaps it helps me become more industrious and effective at my work. I do enjoy programming and building with AI.
Is that all? Why is the technology at my command rather than at my service? What do the best friends and mentors do? They catch you at the right moments when you need a lift or a nudge in a different direction. Similarly, the best programs and liturgy guide you on a path to improvement, often with a supporting cast.
So where is that world of AI? The nudge at the right moment when it’s most effective.
Where’s the coach that notices my sleep is bad the last few days and I’ve also not taken any long walks or exercised? Where’s the digital companion that proactively nudges me out of procrastination when there are no signals of activity in my work? Where’s the positive reinforcement when I’m doing well?
The digital world is rife with our activity, and most of it is used to sell us something or keep us scrolling.
Where’s the AI that’s helping me become a better man, husband, and father?
